I think we could significantly reduce our carbon footprint, if we simply put into place the use of more railways. It does not make sense, using roads for carrying goods across country, when trains could carry 100's of trucks worth of goods, for a fraction of the cost. It's not just the fuel, it is the impact it has on the environment, the infrastructure cost, and so much more.... It makes no sense for companies like UPS, FEdEX, etc.. not to use railways.... If I were Bezos, I would be looking into utilizing railways for Amazon shipping..... That would be the best way to profit from shipping.... Especially if he were to charge rates comparable to that of FEDEX, USPS, UPS, etc...

I think that the Federal Gov should force retailers to use Trains, rather than trucks, to ship goods! To local distribution centers, at least... then perhaps, use trucks to move the goods on to stores....Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07662093780812467496noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8584393706491130969.post-1563472829949416142017-03-05T20:37:52.564-05:002017-03-05T20:37:52.564-05:00The engineers, not the train drivers, will study t...The engineers, not the train drivers, will study this to the point that all the money for fixing the problem will be gone long before any real work actually gets done. Like most projects with Federal money backing it, more money is spent on administrative costs and thinking about what to do than doing the work.
Bill S.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
