The White, Anti-Obama Bloc

Nate Cohn highlights an interesting map:


I can't believe Illinois had 5 counties go 80% anti-Obama, but Indiana had zero.  It looks to me like Sioux County is the only county in Iowa to go 80% anti-Obama.  No surprise there.  And the social ion of the South is not surprising, but is very disturbing.

    Surprised you're familiar with Sioux County. What a hell hole. The pigshit capital of Iowa (and that''s saying something when compared to this county). Steve King Land. It's primarily Dutch Reformed, a special breed of haters. (Unfortunately, I know this from personal experience.) That tribe wasn't kicked out of Holland without good reason.

    I found out about Sioux County when they had a couple of $20,000 an acre land sales. After that, I read a Register series on the county, and found out about the Dutch Reformed roots and the livestock base. We've got a German Catholic version of the same thing in Mercer County about 45 minutes away from me, so I can relate to the special breed of haters (along with the livestock and the homogeneity).
