"Four Wheel Steering is why I get up in the morning"

WTF?

There are people who like mowing the grass? There has to be some medication that can help these folks.

  1. Used to have a neighbor who was a retired farmer with WAY too much energy to be living in town. Bought himself a a really nice John Deere riding mower. First winter, buys the snowblower attachment. Second winter, buys the shroud / cab that protects the driver from blowing snow. Deere yellow—very cool. Third winter, the rig now sports a rotating beacon that is mounted over the driver's head.

Was the man crazy? Not at all. He merely had a giant dose of what Veblen called "The Instinct of Workmanship." And he really did look cool digging out after a big snowstorm.

  2. Retired farmer is a tough gig to pull off under any circumstances. Retired farmer in town is even tougher. When it comes to yardwork, I've got the "the instinct of neglect."
