Yesterday I
bashed on the Cubs fans for low attendance. Then I went down to the Reds game last night. It was a good game, the Reds
won 8-2, moving to 4-0 for the first time since 1990. But attendance was a moribund 11,821, and there wasn't anywhere near that many people there. Sure, Cincinnati is a much smaller market than Chicago, but the Cardinals announced attendance in St. Louis was 33,666. As much as it hurts me to say it, St. Louis is a much better baseball town than Cincinnati.
I wonder how large of a TV audience watched. A Tuesday night game during school, with the college kids still in the middle of a session, would seem to be a low draw time. Granted, St. Louis has the same weather as Cincinnati and the same school schedule.
ReplyDeleteOk, realistically, Cincinnati has a really low fan quality index.
Now you are sounding like Tracy Jones and his blowhard caller who hates having kids at the game.
ReplyDeleteWe're still better than Dodgers fans, who show up in the third and leave in the seventh.
I was aiming for a "Richard from Indian Hill" tone.
ReplyDeleteThat's who I was thinking of. I haven't listened in a while.
